Lord ohene Lord Ohene Okyere-Bour is a Portraiture and Figurative artist, born in Kumasi, Ghana. B.1990 EDUCATION: Pentecost Preparatory JHS, Ghanatta College of Art & Design, Hillwood Studio. ARTIST STATEMENT: I believe facial expressions project the intensity of our emotions, spirit and mind. In my practice I implements specific characters I know personally or via internet who may look familiar, invoke a past relation, or summon an ancestral connection. Sharing stories and bringing people together I create a hybrid community; a sours where I draw inspiration. ARTIST PRACTICE: My portraiture and figuration works are built on journeys, memories, routs and migration which discusses African descent. I focus more on individual stories which I believe everyone has a tale to narrate in their journey of life and untold Situations. My Paintings references expressionism, a modernist movement originating in Northern Europe around 20th Century; where mediums like Acrylic, blk 0.3/ Mouso black and oil pastels assist me puzzle up the subjects with contour mapping drawn on the faces which symbolizes the path and the journey of the subject, a way to describe who they are and their life style. I capture my subject with confidence and control which is a way I express myself. I don’t go for accuracy I barley follow my sketch during my process. For me I think it’s a way of navigating on a different path which somehow leads to the same destination.
